Who we are
Dance Physics collaborates with a range of associate artists in the delivery of its performance and education programme.




ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
JOYCE GYIMAH
Following her training firstly at Lewisham college followed by degree level study at The Laban Centre for Movement and Dance, Joyce has worked as a freelance dance artist and manager for a range of dance institutions and organisations including Laban, Greenwich Dance Agency, Greenwich Musical Theatre, UK Foundation for Dance and Tavaziva Dance.
Joyce has taught nationally delivering workshops, residencies and choreographic projects in a range of dance styles. Joyce is well known for her passion for teaching Mattox Jazz technique, as well as Contemporary and creative dance workshops.
As a performer Joyce has worked with a variety of small to mid scale companies including Adzido and Martial Dance.
Joyce is also an independent dance manager/consultant.

GARRY BENJAMIN
I trained at the Thamesdown Dance Studio, with Swindon Dance and at The Northern School of contemporary Dance, Leeds. I joined Union Dance in 1996 until 2008 and am currently their Assistant Rehearsal Director.
I have been teaching extensively through workshops, lecture demonstrations, master classes and residencies for all ages and abilities in a variety of settings such as Union Too, Morley College, Greenwich dance Agency, Swindon Dance. I have performed professionally both nationally and internationally.
Choreographic works include
Paris Fashion Week, short works for Dundee Rep Dance Company, Union Dance (Dance in house and Urban Classics) also choreographic platform at Purcell Rooms, South Bank Centre for ADAD, TV Live at the Royal Albert Hall, Dance Fest Macau, China. Recently choreographed for the opening of the Bernie Grant Centre (Griot).
Educational and Choreographic works in Vienna, Finland, Barcelona, Germany, Italy and Malta.

GERRARD MARTIN
Gerrard Martin studied at DeMontfort University (BA Hons in English Literature and Performing Arts), and at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. He has performed in The Lion King (West End) and in Robert North's The Snowman (Edinburgh Festival Theatre and Birmingham Rep) among many other musicals and pantomimes.
Gerrard has toured nationally with Phoenix Dance Company, as well as dancing with Ballet Black, Union Dance Company, Aletta Collins Dance Company and Sakoba Dance Theatre. Gerrard has performed in Zero Culture's Find Me Amongst The Black (choreographed by Darshan Singh Bhuller). Gerrard's most recent work has been with Tavaziva Dance Company.

EVERTON WOOD
Everton graduated from The Northern School of Contemporary Dance and achieved a degree in Performing Arts.
During his training Everton worked with choreographers such as Sharon Donaldson, Darshan Sing Bhuller and Simon Birch.
Everton's professional engagements include one season with Kokuma Dance Theatre and four years with Sakoba Dance Theatre, during which Everton performed in the musical Inkle and Yarico at the Edingburgh Festival 1999. Since March 2001 Everton has worked extensively at The Royal Opera House with both The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera. Everton's most recent work has been with Tavaziva Dance Company, based in London.
